One way, perhaps the only way to join the Nigerian police force is by submitting an application.
Warning: Do not pay to anybody who’s pretending to be agents in charge of the force recruitment.
Since joining Nigeria Police Force (NPF) starts by applying for Police recruitment. There are 5 different steps to submitting your application form.
Steps to applying for Nigerian Police Force Recruitment
1. Get a functional e-mail address and mobile phone number.
2. Go to www.policerecruitment.ng
3. Fill and submit the e-form, and make sure your details are correct before final submission.
4. Print out the information that will be sent to your e-mail address. Also, make sure you keep your registration number safe for future reference.
Note: Your registration number is ‘case sensitive’.
5. If you are shortlisted, you will be required to present a hard-copy of the email message sent to you. That’s why print out the information sent to your e-mail.
Now, let’s look at the requirements for Nigerian police force recruitment.
Requirements for Nigerian Police Force Recruitment
1. Nationality: Applicants must be a Nigerian citizen by birth.
2. ID Card: Must have a National Identification Number (NIN).
3. Age: Applicants must be between 18 and 25 years.
4. Education: Must have Senior Secondary Certificate Exam (SSCE) with credit pass in English and Mathematics and any other three subjects in not over two sittings.
4. Character: Applicants must be of good behaviour and character, and must not have been convicted of any crime.
5. Height: Must not be less than 1.66 metres in height for men and 1.63 metres for women.
6. Chest Measurement: Must not have less than 86cm expanded chest measurement {men only}.
7. Physical Features: Must not have any of the following deformities;
- Speech impediment, Knock knees
- Bow legs
- Bent knees
- Flat feet
- Deformed hands (a hand that cannot perform the full functions of the hand)
- Tattoos
- Bodily scars
- Defective eyesight
- Amputation of any part of the body
- Gross malformation of teeth,
Protruding navel.
8. Pregnancy: Female applicants must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment.
9. Financial Status: Must be free from any financial embarrassment.
10. Guarantors’ Form: Candidates must download and fill the guarantors’ form, and must present verifiable references from any two of the following;
- Sureties must be traditional rulers,
Magistrate - Local government chairman
- Heads of educational institutions attended
- Career civil servant not below the rank of grade level 12
- Police officer but not below the rank of CSP
- Military officer not below the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
