At the Nigerian commercial capital city of Lagos’ Murtala Muhammad Airport on Tuesday morning, a Dana Airlines passenger aircraft went off the runway.
According to a press release from the airline’s spokesman, Kingsley Ezenwa, the aircraft, registered 5N BkI, was traveling from Abuja to Lagos.
He said that the flight’s 83 passengers and crew members departed safely, without incident or injury, thanks to the crew’s exceptional professionalism in handling the situation.
Ezenwa stated that because the airline’s maintenance crew had grounded the affected aircraft, the airline had reported the event to both the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Accident Investigation Agency.
The statement made no mention of the accident’s potential cause, while unconfirmed sources speculate that it might have been brought on by Lagos’s recent severe rainfall.
