FG approved agents for diaspora registration

The Federal Government has authorized agents diaspora registration across the world for the National Identification Numbers, NIN.

Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Zubairu Dada made this understood in Abuja at the Maiden Edition of the Nigeria in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, Quarterly lecture series.
According to him, the Federal Government realised the impact of the Diaspora to the growth of the nation, hence the need to give them every opportunity to relate with their roots by approvingdiaspora registration.
“The mobilisation of Nigerians in Diaspora for national growth has over time become more pertinent given the ever growing contribution of Nigerians in the Diaspora to National development”. Amb. Dada stated
The Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola said the ministry has recently inaugurated electronic temporary passport to ease the burden for Nigerians whose passports have expired.
He said previously a Special passport registration exercise which gives the Nigeria Immigration Service personnel the opportunity to meet with Nigerians in their country of residence and get them registered for passport has started in Canada and USA.
The Chairman Nigerians In Diaspora Commission, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa announced the Diaspora Lecture Series was projected to be a major aspect of national discourse where Nigerians both in the country and in the Diaspora can be kept abreast of the agendas of the Government for her Diaspora community through NIDCOM.
The theme for the Lecture is ” Mobilising Nigerians in Diaspora for national development”.
