Nigerian Coach Became First To Lead A European Team To A League Title

Ndubuisi Egbo, goalkeeper for the Super Eagles, led KF Tirana to victory in the Albanian premier division in 2020, making him the first African and Nigerian coach to win a league title in Europe.

Additionally, the squad qualified for the elite UEFA Champions League under his leadership.

The former Super Eagles player was born in the commercial city of Aba on July 25, 1973.

Throughout his professional career, Egbo held the position of goalkeeper.

Before relocating to Europe, Egbo started his professional football career in Nigeria with NITEL Vasco Enugu, NEPA Lagos, and Julius Berger.

He also participated in the Egyptian Premier League with El-Masry and the Moroka Swallows in South Africa.

Egbo participated in the Kategoria Superiore for Tirana and Bylis Ballsh in Europe.

Notably, Egbo was a three-time trophy winner for Tirana.

Egbo played for Nigeria in 12 games. He competed for Nigeria at the African Cup of Nations in 2000 and 2002.

The adaptable goalie left professional football in 2011 and started a coaching career.

He began his managing career with Bylis as a goalie trainer. In 2013, he went on to assume the position as manager.

He started working as a goalkeeper trainer in Tirana in 2014. In 2019, Egbo subsequently assumed the position of manager. By winning the Albanian League title for 2019–2020, he guided the club to victory.

Currently, he is the manager of Prishtina, a team in the Kosovo Super League.
