What is a SIM?

Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) is a plastic card that practically contains the required data that authenticates one’s identity to a network carrier. It is what grants you entrance to a network carrier and without it, carriers wouldn’t know you’re subscribed to their network and thus you wouldn’t be able to make use of their cell towers. It acts like an identity that permits you access to use a network carrier cell tower.

What is an eSIM?
Embedded Subscriber Identity Module (eSIM) is a new smart technology slowly replacing the traditional SIM. Rather a physical SIM, the eSIM is a small chip built right into your smartphone granting you all functionalities of a real sim and more.

Therefore, it arrives with your smartphone and works just as fine. However, different to what most people think, you don’t have to be glued to one network with the eSIM, you can port from one place to another as easy as ABC.

Advantages of the eSIM technology
The information on an eSIM is rewritable, so you can determine to change your operator with a reasonable phone call.
It authorizes you to have more than one mobile number tied to your device.
You don’t have to deal with changing SIM cards while on-the-go, especially for travelers as it makes it simpler to switch between network operators.
The probability of losing or destroying your SIM card is eliminated because it is embedded in your device.
The shortage for cutting SIM cards and searching for SIM adapters is eliminated also.
