After applying for the new National Identity Card in Nigeria, it takes some years for the card to be ready.

Just after a successful application, a National Identification Number Slip (NIN) will be given to you which contains tracking Id, issued date and other information.

So, in this post, we will show you how to check National id card status in Nigeria.

Getting national id card has always been a problem.

But now the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has created an online portal where you can easily check your Id card status.

So, instead of going to their office, you can use their online portal to check your id status.

To check National ID Card Nigeria status you must have registered for it.

PIease, if you have not registered for Nigerian National Id card, we advise you to visit any NIMC office around you for e-registration.

If you are visiting NINC office for National Id card registration, please, go with any Nigerian government issued Id card such voters’ card, driving licence or international id card, and any utility bill such as electric bill, water bill, Sanitation bill.

If you are amongst those that have registered for National id card, and have been waiting for the plastic original plastic card to come out, follow the steps below to check if your id is ready for collection.

How to check National ID Nigeria status

1. Go to NIMC website at www.nimc.gov.ng

2. Scroll down to locate and click on “Check Your Card Status” link

3. Enter your first name and last name in the space provided

4. Enter last six (6) degits of your National Identification Number (NIN). If you don’t know it, check your NIN slip that was given to you after your registration for the card

5. Click “Check Now” button.

Once clicked on check status, the information containing your status will display.

Please note the above website is to whether or not your National ID Card is ready and has been dispatched to a collection centre.

The details must be as spelled during enrollment. And while going to collect it, ensure you go with your nimc id slip.
